Mike Maguire – No. It will be an economic and social disaster. I costs far too much, will cost a fortune to maintain and operate and won’t take a single car off the Queensway. Far better to restore surface rail using existing rail and rail rights-of-way to take cars off the Queensway and arterial roads at a fraction of the cost. See my transit plan at http://www.mikeformayor.ca/

Jane Scharf – NO! As a citizen of Ottawa I can tell you very clearly that I do not support the LRT plan because the city has not explored all the alternative potentially more effective and cheaper options to reduced downtown congestion. For example putting the O-Train across the Alexandra Bridge in the existing empty train lane, using the Bryon right of way for O-Train, Gondola transportation through downtown for commuting and tourists, bixi bike program and many others. However, I do not intend to vote on transportation matters at all as I intend to chair council meetings under Robert’s Rules of Order which prohibit the chair from discussion on all matters under consideration for a vote and voting on any matter except in the case of a tie. I trust this answers your question. Thank your for efforts in polling candidates.

About teapartyofottawa.ca
The Tea Party of Ottawa is a grassroots movement that seeks to inform voters of where the candidates for Ottawa City Council stand. We hope that we can improve the democratic process at city hall.
Incumbents simply do not lose. They have a job for life whether they have done a good job or not. People have called for a change but are left wondering who among the challengers is worthy of their vote.
We want people of integrity who have the strength to clearly state their positions to be elected to city council. The people want a change and we hope there is a change for the better.
The question that the mayors are answering is the following
Would you vote in favour of the current transit plan?
